Jazz & Blues and Persian Poetry, Mohsen Namjoo

Mohsen Namjoo is an Iranian musician who not only plays a range of both Eastern and Western instruments, but also sings Jazz and Blues with a Persian touch. His latest album, “Toranj” -- composed mainly by Namjoo -- is based on works by artists like Muddy Waters, Steve Ray Vaughn, Deep Purple, Leonard Cohen, and Johnny Lee Hooker. “Toranj” features the poetry of great Persian Sufi poets such as Hafez, Rumi, Attar, Kermani, and Baba Taher, and is deeply rooted in Jazz and Blues.
