The Ishraqi Philosophy of Jalal al-Din Rumi

In Islamic Philosophy, the Ishraqi Philosophy or wisdom (the Illumination Philosophy or Transcendent Theosophy first argued by the 12th century Persian Sufi Philosopher, Suhrawardi, and later further propagated by the great 16th century Persian Sufi Philosopher, Mulla Sadra), is based both on discursive reasoning and intellectual intuition; on formal learning which aims at cultivation of the intellect and purification of soul which prepares it to be the recipient of illumination. The following paper by Dr. Iraj Bashiri is a must read for anyone interested in Rumi's philosophical approaches, and the incorporation of Illumination Philosophy in his works.
